Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran was born on March 10 1949. She is an American investor as well as a speaker and consultant. The Corcoran Group was a New York City real estate brokerage that she started. NRT purchased it for $66million in 2001. Corcoran eventually left the business. Corcoran is one of ABC's initial Shark investors, has been a part of each episode of Shark Tank. Corcoran had signed 53 contracts in February of 2020. The biggest deal she signed was her $350,000 investment in Coverplay with a 40% stake. Corcoran was second in a family of 10 children, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence, her mother, was an excellent household worker. Her father, Edwin W. Corcoran Jr., bounced from job to job during Corcoran's youth. The family relied sometimes on free food delivery from a local grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father being a drunkard who sometimes treated her mother with contempt and disrespect, especially after he had been drinking. Corcoran was a troubled student in school. Later, she discovered she was dyslexic. Corcoran began high school at St. Cecilia High School Englewood following her time at an Catholic primary school. Corcoran was fluent in several courses her first year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
